About

Laura Kinnunen, a qualified Nordic Walking Instructor, grew up in Central Finland surrounded by beautiful forests and lakes, and from a very young age developed a love of the great outdoors through walking, cross country skiing and snowboarding.

Her appreciation for outdoor activities was further deepened during her five year stint studying and working in rural Japan, where she also gained her first Nordic Walking Instructor qualification in 2002 with an International Nordic Walking Association (INWA) Master Trainer.

Laura returned to Nordic Walking in 2011 to relieve recurring headaches and stiffness in her neck and shoulder region caused by a sedentary job, and has not looked back since. Laura retrained as an Instructor with Nordic Walking UK in December 2011 and began working with the Lewisham NHS Trust Healthy Walks scheme delivering Nordic Walking sessions aimed at inactive Lewisham residents. Working with inactive adults sparked her interest in exercising for health benefits and she is currently in the final stages of completing a Level 3 Qualification in Exercise Referral.

Laura set up Brockley Nordic Walking in April 2012 and continues to work with the Lewisham Healthy Walks teaching beginners’ technique courses and regular weekly classes in her local parks including Hilly Fields and Ladywell Fields.

Nordic Walking never fails to leave Laura feeling reinvigorated, relaxed and happy, and she hopes to share this with as many walkers as possible!
